The formula
points = sum of (times × points per action)
Where it comes from
No two fantasy platforms score the same: some give four points for a striker goal and six for a defender, others award by minutes played, and a few penalise offsides. That is why the scoring goes in the form rather than being built into the calculation. What the calculator adds is the breakdown: seeing that the negative actions eat a third of what the positive ones bring in changes how you build a squad.
How to work it out by hand
- Enter each action with how many times it happened and the points your league gives
- Multiply one by the other
- Add up the positives and the negatives separately
- The difference is the points for the round
What is worth knowing
The drag figure — negatives against positives — is what helps most when deciding. A player who scores a lot but also loses a lot has high variance and makes a worse captain than his average suggests, because in fantasy what matters is not only the mean but the reliability. And keep the zero-value actions in the list: a zero is a reminder that the action exists and may show up next round.
